Thank you for your interest in an On The Rocks puppy. Below is a little about our breeding philosophies and what you can expect when you are owned by one of our puppies.
I personally believe the health and temperament of a dog are the most important things you can and should look for when selecting a puppy. Ridgebacks are not cheap dogs, why not make sure you don't add to the amount of you will spending on health and training issues that could have been avoided. All of our breeding dogs are at a minimum OFA certified for hips, elbows, cardiac and thyroid . We also test their eyes for hereditary conditions with CAER/CERF. We will ONLY breed dogs who's results are AT LEAST good for hips, and normal for elbows, cardiac, thyroid & CERF. Our dogs also receive all pre-breeding veterinary screening that our vet recommends. Copies of all results will be included in puppy packet.
For more information on OFA click here!!!
All of our puppies come with a 27 month guarantee again any hip and elbow dysplasia along with a 10 day health guarantee. We chose 27 months instead of 24 as OFA doesn't do the official testing until 2 years of age. So we have given you a 3 month window to get this done if you choose to do so. If within the first 7 days of purchase, your dog is found to have any serious, possibly life-threatening diseases, you are able to return your puppy for a refund of the sales price. This includes, (heart murmurs, parvo, etc.) We will NOT cover communicable diseases that are discovered past 7 days of ownership. There are too many environmental impacts for these diseases.
The diseases covered are:
Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, Infectious canine hepatitis, Kennel cough, Leptospirosis, Lyme disease & Coronavirus.
All of our dogs receive extensive socialization beginning just hours after they are born. They are around not only their mother, but also our other dogs, children (from ages 2-18), different adults, household items (vacuum, washing machine, tv, etc), outside items (lawn mower, leaf blower, kids playing, cars, etc) their entire time with us. This is to help with a smooth transition into your family, and to help give them the best start to becoming properly socialized dogs. *Please note: You will still need to continue to ensure your dog receives proper socialization during his/her's entire life. Ultimately your dog's behavior will depend on how you socialize him/her. We are trying to help you out as much as possible!!!
Also, please remember, no matter what, we will always take your puppy back. We strongly feel every puppy we produce is ultimately our responsibility. Working in shelters and rescues I know how sad and stressful it is for dogs to bounce around, get stuck in shelters, etc. I would be horrified if ANY of my dogs or dogs I've produced ended up in rescue or in shelters.
We also follow RRCUS code of ethics, so anything not covered above that we adhere to is found HERE!!!
